Ep. 2 | Believing B- Work is Okay!
Hi, this is Kate Zurenko, host of the podcast Practices is Progress. I've curated content and interviews to inspire and to help fast forward your solopreneur success by learning from others who are sharing real examples of what it takes to create and to run a business from within their own four walls. I hope these real-life experiences are inspiration to what is possible. I am driven every day not only to create a successful business, but one that is sustainable. And I know it's possible for you, too.
Hello, all. Back for my first real episode. And I thought it would be appropriate to lean in to the idea that believing B- work is okay. This is a new concept for me that I learned in the Life Coach School. I've committed to this next year learning under Brook Castillo and being coached by her amazing team that she has there.
And believe it or not, it's only been 20 days since starting her program, and I've already taken so much action. And that action has come because I've been leaning into this concept she taught about B- work is okay, and you can always refine later. And what I'm finding with this is that I am able to do the work. It's weird.
It's like the smallest, but very impactful shift.
And what I'm also realizing is that often my output is better than a B minus. But just taking away that vibration, that need for perfectionist tendencies has been ground-breaking for me. And that includes this podcast. I mean, I'd always had this idea of wanting to put myself out there. And like I had mentioned, in my intro episode, I haven't in my business yet.
And when I started her program, I'm just like I am going all in and I am going to really lean into her teachings that she has years of experience and so many students who have benefited from really just breaking down ideas in a very simple way and taking action from that place. And so I challenge you, sitting at home, feeling stuck in the work that you might have, even if it's housework. I've even applied this to housework. I'm like, okay, I want a clean kitchen, but B minus or better? Yes. B minus is okay. Something's better than nothing. And so I challenge you at home to just believe that B minus work is okay. And what's going to come up from you is probably discomfort. You'll probably want to argue the point how that might not be a wise approach.
I've admitted that I am a recovering perfectionist. So I have spent years feeling stuck. But a couple of things have happened for me. I think I've just gotten more clear in my business. But also just the relief of B minus work is okay, even if what I produced was B minus work, and that's okay, has just lifted a huge weight off of my shoulders. So I hope this little concept is something that is profound for you if you try it. And I wish you a great day and look forward to being back on this soon.
